Wataniya in tie-up with Sprint

Kuwait-based cellular operator Wataniya Telecom has formed an international alliance with Sprint Nextel of the US which will see the pair cooperate on ventures across the Middle East and North Africa. Local news agency KUNA says the new operation will be known as Sprint Nextel Middle East and will deliver advanced wireless services. Ahmad Haleem, CEO at Wataniya Telecom’s parent company Wataniya International, commented: ‘We are delighted to announce this exciting new venture with an internationally recognised leader in the telecommunications industry. The new company will reinforce our leadership in innovation in our markets and increase the value we offer to our stakeholders.’ Wataniya has cellular operations in Kuwait, Tunisia, Iraq, Algeria, Saudi Arabia and the Maldives.
