Telefónica del Perú (TDP), the country’s fixed line incumbent has reported a 2006 turnover of PEN4.4 billion (USD1.41 billion), a 7.3% increase on the previous year, despite flat performances from its traditional services, the company said in a statement. Revenues from local telephony increased just half a percentage point in 2006 to PEN1.66 billion while its long-distance division managed 1% growth to PEN515 million. Public and rural telephony revenues fell by 7.6% to PEN751 million compared to 2005. Sales from its subscription TV business jumped 17.7% year on year to PEN356 million while internet revenues rose by 39.8% to PEN549 million. TDP added 127,686 broadband lines in 2006 to take its base to 468,122 while 144,202 net new fixed lines were added to end the year with 2.36 million.
