16 Feb 2007

France Télécom (FT) yesterday announced that the first phase of its Orange France fibre-optic internet rollout, dubbed ‘la fibre’, will begin on 1 March. The incumbent unveiled its plans to deploy fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) technology in December last year. It plans to connect between 150,000 and 200,000 customers by end-2008, out of a potential customer base of one million. Marketing services under the Orange brand, FT aims to offer internet access with symmetrical speeds of up to 100Mbps, with bundled products such as high-definition TV and unlimited voice calls.
