Tele2 posts losses in fourth quarter as turnover stays flat

Swedish telecoms group Tele2 has reported a net loss of SEK60 million (USD8.6 million) for the fourth quarter of 2006, compared to a net profit of SEK254 million a year earlier, on revenues that climbed only slightly from SEK13.94 billion to SEK13.947 billion. EBITDA fell to SEK1.465 billion from SEK1.602 billion in 4Q 2005. The group gained 752,000 total net new customers in the quarter, with the addition of over a million new mobile subscribers offset by a loss of some 670,000 fixed lines, whilst ARPU across all operations fell by SEK11 year-on-year to SEK142. Mobile revenues were up 28% to SEK5.2 billion, and the group also added 253,000 new broadband internet customers in the period.
