Jordan Telecom has announced that its net profit rose just 0.7% to JOD87 million (USD122.7 million) in 2006. Revenue rose 3% to JOD362.9 million compared to JOD352.2 million in 2005. Sales were driven largely by an 87% hike in the subscriber base of its wireless subsidiary MobileCom, which reported a 21% increase in turnover to JOD140 million. Wanadoo, its internet subsidiary, increased revenues by 44% to JOD10.4 million. Jordan Telecom, in which France Telecom owns a 51% stake, had about 677,000 land lines in service at the end of 2006 while MobileCom had a 30% market share with 1.4 million subscribers.
