Alcatel-Lucent becomes strategic partner of Mobilkom Austria group

Alcatel-Lucent has won a major contract to become the strategic supplier of advanced wireless communications technology for the Mobilkom Austria group. Under the terms of the deal, Mobilkom Austria will deploy Alcatel-Lucent’s GSM/EDGE and UMTS/HSPA equipment throughout its network, enabling the service provider to offer its customers faster, more reliable mobile communications services. The Mobilkom Austria group comprises wireless operators in Austria (Mobilkom Austria), Liechtenstein (Mobilkom Liechtenstein), Slovenia (Si.mobil), Croatia (Vipnet), Bulgaria (Mobiltel) and Serbia (Novioperater). Bulgaria and Serbia will be the first countries targeted for deployment of 3G technology, and Alcatel-Lucent will be sole supplier of UMTS/HSPA equipment for Si.mobil in Slovenia.
