Saudi Arabia’s second largest cellular operator Mobily has begun rolling out a push-to-talk (PTT) walkie talkie-style service. Arab News reports that Mobily is looking to introduce the service over its GPRS and W-CDMA networks but a launch date has yet to be announced. Mobily, which is part-owned by Etisalat of the UAE, had 4.8 million subscribers and a 28% share of the Saudi mobile market at the end of September 2006 according to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database.
