Hindujas and Qatar Telecom to put in joint bid for Hutchison Essar - report

The Hinduja Group has teamed up with Qatar Telecom to jointly bid for Hutchison Telecommunications International’s 67% stake of Hutchison Essar, reports India’s Economic Times, citing unnamed sources. The report said the two are likely to make a USD16 billion offer for the stake although Hinduja Group CFO Prabal Banerji refused to comment on the story. Qatar Telecom had earlier been rumoured to be looking at partnering the Essar Group, which holds the other third of Hutchison Essar.
