Vodafone Casa trials stopped

5 Feb 2007

A court in Rome has ordered Vodafone Italy to halt testing of its new converged fixed-mobile service following a complaint by rival Telecom Italia (TI). Vodafone had been given permission by the Ministry of Communications to test the Vodafone Casa offering for two months with 15,000 customers, but TI has complained that the service contravenes regulations which state that phone users cannot transfer a phone number from one network to another, Dow Jones reports. The Vodafone Casa service allows calls to a selected fixed line number to be transferred to a customer’s Vodafone mobile handset at no additional cost to either the caller or the called party.
