Telecom New Zealand has announced that it is ready to introduce CDMA2000 1xEV-DO Revision A services to customers in Wellington. High speed services are due to be launched in the city on 22 February. Its networks in Auckland have already had the Rev A upgrade, which offers typical download rates of 800kbps. Other main cities will be upgraded by mid-2007, and by the end of the year Telecom’s entire EV-DO will have been switched to Rev A technology. Telecom’s mobile unit had 1.87 million subscribers at the end of December, up from 1.81 million twelve months earlier.
