Ericsson inks five year deal with Orange

Ericsson of Sweden has been awarded a five-year deal to provide managed services support for Orange in the Netherlands. Under the contract the equipment vendor will be responsible for all operations, rollout and maintenance on the cellco’s networks, which will also see 190 Orange staff transferred to Ericsson. Commenting on the agreement, Yves Gaultier, CEO of Orange Netherlands, said: ‘This is an important step for Orange Netherlands. Thanks to this we will be able to focus more on improving our position in the mobile telecommunications market.’

According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database, at the end of September 2006 Orange Netherlands had 2.012 million mobile users, up from 1.914 million at the start of the year, a market share of 11.97%.
