Columbus Communications, the parent company of the island’s largest cable operator Flow, will spend JOD6.7 billion (USD100 million) this year building out its network and hopes to have all its Kingston infrastructure in place by August. Flow offers corporate and domestic customers a range of telephony services as well as broadband internet and cable television, via a fibre-optic network. Last year it spent USD43 million on laying an undersea fibre-optic cable between Jamaica and the United States and nearly another USD80 million on its local network. Now it is pushing to complete its Kingston infrastructure before the start of the third quarter, ‘By August this year, every household in Kingston should have access to our network," a spokesperson for Flow said. ‘And by the end of the year, all households in Portmore and any hotel on the north coast will also have access.’
