New OFTA licences to regulate resellers

2 Feb 2007

Hong Kong’s telecoms regulator OFTA has this week brought all resellers within the scope of it regulatory regime by introducing a new Class licence, covering any type of publicly resold telecommunications service. OFTA says that its move will ensure a level playing field in the market as well as enhance consumer protection. Firms offering services including international calling cards and pre-paid mobile SIM cards will automatically become Class licensees without registration or payment of a licence fee.
