TeliaSonera acquires debitel Danmark

Scandinavian giant TeliaSonera has strengthened its market position in Denmark by signing a share purchase agreement for 100% of telco and mobile reseller debitel Danmark. TeliaSonera is already represented in the country by Telia Denmark, which holds about a quarter of the non-incumbent wireline market. debitel has around half of that, with 110,000 subscribers, plus approximately 300,000 wireless customers, making it Denmark’s largest independent mobile reseller. Under the terms of the deal, worth up to EUR140 million (USD181.5 million), debitel will continue to offer services under its own brand in the Danish market, with no major changes to its operations.
