Vodafone Italy says it expects to open its national cellular network to a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) before the end of this year. The UK-owned firm has submitted a proposal to Italy’s telecoms regulator Agcom requesting permission to allow a reseller to offer services using its network, AFX reports. Vodafone Italy recently agreed a deal with local broadband operator FastWeb under which the latter’s fixed internet services are marketed to Vodafone customers. FastWeb has expressed an interest in adding cellular services to its portfolio.
