Half a million new T-Com subscribers in fourth quarter

30 Jan 2007

T-Com, the broadband arm of German incumbent Deutsche Telekom (DT), saw an increase in its subscriber base of 563,000 during the last three months of 2006, a quarter-on-quarter increase of 45%, the highest since 2001. DT attributes the increase to its ‘3x3’ bundled rates, and claims that 3.6 million bundled packages had been sold by the end of 2006, around two-thirds of which were for ‘double play’ (telephone and internet). When resale DSL (ie T-Com broadband lines sold by competitors) is included, the total increase during October, November and December was 878,000, taking the overall total to 10.3 million. T-Com’s own subscriber base at the end of the year was 7.07 million.
