26 Jan 2007

Iran’s newest cellular operator says it is close to launching its GPRS services. MTN Irancell says a test launch of GPRS will take place next month, initially involving a small number of trial users. A full launch is expected by the end of Iran’s current calendar year on 20 March, according to a report from Taliya News. MTN Irancell, which launched its GSM networks last October, says it has already signed up 400,000 subscribers. The firm expects to have coverage of 70 cities and 300 towns by March.
