Golden Telecom nears LD launch

24 Jan 2007

Russian business services provider Golden Telecom has announced that it will begin offering commercial domestic and international long-distance services on 29 January, a month after receiving its access codes from the country’s Ministry of IT and Communications. The firm says that its long-distance services will be available to 32 million private users and 1.5 million companies across Russia, and that tariffs will be at least 10% lower than those charged by incumbent LD operator Rostelecom. Golden Telecom has constructed its own federal transport network which reaches all 88 Russian regions, and it expects to capture 20% of the domestic and international calls market by the end of 2010.
