23 Jan 2007

Confirming a story which first appeared last November, Chinese vendor Huawei has been engaged by German telco Versatel to build it an IP fibre network, in a deal worth EUR30 million (USD38.9 million). The project, intended to significantly boost Versatel’s presence in the German telecoms market, is expected to take around twelve months. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database, Versatel ended Q3 2006 with an estimated 600,000 broadband subscribers.
