Etisalat Egypt plans to launch wireless services in Cairo and four other major cities at the end of February, according to local news reports. The Netherlands-based Telecom Paper quoted the Egyptian ministry of communications as saying the new entrant would offer both 2G and 3G services, on both a pre-paid and post-paid basis. Etisalat was awarded the wireless concessions last July after bidding EGP16.7 billion (USD2.89 billion) for the licences. The operator expects to acquire 10 million subscribers by 2010, giving it a 25% market share.
