Zimbabwe’s mobile market leader Econet Wireless has announced plans to install 90 additional GSM base stations across the country in a move to boost network coverage and service quality. Company spokesperson Sure Kamhunga said in a statement that the base stations would be in addition to 70 that the cellco had installed since October last year. The rollout forms part of the expansion project Econet announced last year to increase network capacity from 500,000 to 800,000 subscribers. The operator has also upgraded the capacity of its switching system.
