17 Jan 2007

Two of Taiwan’s mobile operators have announced that they are expanding their respective 3.5G HSDPA networks, according to a DigiTimes report. Market leader Chunghwa Telecom says it plans to increase HSDPA coverage to reach 90% of the population by end-2007, increasing the number of 3G and 3.5G base stations from 4,000 to 6,000 in the process. Far EasTone, meanwhile, says it too is continuing its HSDPA expansion; it will increase coverage from 40% at present to 75% by year-end.
