Du expecting half a million subscribers

The United Arab Emirates’ second mobile phone operator Du, which has yet to launch services, has said that when it commences commercial operations it will have 500,000 customers. According to the cellco’s chief Osman Sultan, over 450,000 numbers have been reserved to date. The Telecoms Regulatory Authority (TRA) has already warned that it may take action against Du if it has not launched services by 12 February, the first anniversary of the award of its licence.
