According to a story carried by Asia Today, BSNL is planning to launch a CDMA-based wireless in the local loop (WiLL) service in Uttar Pradesh West [UP], and aims to have 130,000 WiLL connections in place by the end of the year. According to BSNL UP general manager Suresh Bhargava, the first CDMA main switching centre (MSC) has already been established in Ghazaiabad, with a capacity for 50,000 WiLL subscribers. 67 base transceiver stations (BTS) have also been setup in the region. He said testing was nearly complete and the network would be switched on ‘soon’, after which another MSC capable of handling an additional 80,000 lines will be established in Moradabad, taking the combined line handling capacity to 130,000 subscribers.
