The UAE’s second national mobile operator, Du, has announced that it will cover 85% of the country’s territory when it launches commercial services. It added that roaming over incumbent Etisalat’s infrastructure will extend coverage to all other parts of the country, at no extra charge to its users. The company said that there are many outlying desert or rural areas where it is not feasible to establish coverage initially. The Telecoms Regulatory Authority has warned that Du must launch commercially by 12 February or face recriminatory action.
