BT closes in on PlusNet deal

UK fixed line incumbent BT Group is poised to take control of UK broadband provider PlusNet, the company announced today. The UK operator now possesses or has acceptances for its offer in respect of a total of 28.6 million PlusNet shares, representing around 96.3% of the latter’s issued share capital. In addition, BT Group says its takeover of the Sheffield-based broadband provider has now been ratified by the Competition Authority.
