Telecom Italia has confirmed that it plans to push ahead with its planned reorganisation under its current management structure. There has been growing speculation that the operator would undertake a management reshuffle before ploughing on with its proposed restructuring into four business units. Dow Jones reports that the firm is planning to stick with its previously announced strategy of converging its fixed line, mobile, broadband and media operations. The reorganisation will see Telecom Italia split into four divisions: fixed line, mobile, networks and Top Client/ICT. Riccardo Ruggiero has confirmed that he will continue in his role as CEO, putting an end to speculation that he was preparing to step down. The firm is eager to keep itself on an even keel following a difficult few months in which former chairman Marco Tronchetti Provera resigned and the Italian government became involved in a scandal over the telco’s future direction.
