Deutsche Telekom’s Spanish arm Ya.com has lost its legal case against fixed line telecoms operator Jazztel, in which it accused the latter of violating a commitment made in 2000 not to compete with it in the Spanish residential DSL broadband market. Deutsche Telekom claims Jazztel agreed to the non-compete condition when it sold its internet unit (Ya.com) in 2000 for EUR550 million (USD721 million). Ya.com has the right to appeal the verdict.
