Cell C upgrades messaging systems

South Africa’s smallest mobile operator Cell C has upgraded its messaging networks with technology from Airwide Solutions to help it cope with increased demand over the Christmas and New Year period. Airwide is supplying its AirMessenger SMSCs and AirGate messaging gateways. Cell C, which has 2.7 million active customers, says it handled more than 16 million SMS messages during the last festive period and the figure is expected to be higher this year.
