Omantel releases internet subscriber data

Incumbent Oman Telecommunications Company (Omantel), the sole provider of internet services in the Gulf state, has published subscriber figures for the end of October 2006. In total, Oman had 92,126 internet subscribers, of which 48,846 subscribe via a dial-up account, 24,350 use the pre-paid Al-ufok cards and 12,900 have an ADSL connection. Of the remainder, 242 have a leased line and 4,850 use the basic Log ‘n’ Surf service. Users of other internet services totalled 938.
