Cablemás upgrades VoCable service

7 Dec 2006

Mexico’s second largest CATV operator Cablemás has contracted US solutions provider IP Unity to deploy a voice messaging and server application for its voice-over-cable customers. The solution will be deployed in Cuernavaca this month and extended to 13 other cities in the short term. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database, Cablemás signed a deal with long-distance telco and broadband provider Axtel in May 2005 to market triple-play services in the cities where the two companies’ networks overlap; by the end of September 2006 the venture had yielded Cablemás 20,616 VoIP customers.
