Nortel WiMAX win

Canadian equipment vendor Nortel Networks has won a contract from Chunghwa Telecom to install a mobile WiMAX network in northeastern Taiwan. The deal, which covers the country of Yilan, has been announced as part of the Taiwanese government’s Mobile Taiwan (M-Taiwan) project, which is aiming to push the development of the country’s wireless broadband sector. Nortel is providing base stations, its access service network gateway, network management systems and customer premises equipment, all of which utilises 802.16e mobile WiMAX technology. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
