Ericsson provides Cyta with converged IMS solution

5 Dec 2006

Sweden’s Ericsson has been selected by Cyta, the leading operator in Cyprus, to provide its IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) solution for the implementation of what it calls ‘one of the first truly converged IMS networks in the world’. The IMS system will allow Cyta to offer residential and business customers converged fixed-mobile services. According to its press release, Ericcson’s IMS solution enables access to a wide range of multimedia services across both fixed and mobile networks, and includes a converged IMS core infrastructure as well as application servers and service enablers for common functions that can be reused for multiple fixed and mobile applications. The turnkey contract with Cyta will be carried out in five stages over the next two and a half years.
