Italy’s number three mobile operator Wind has selected Nokia to supply a turnkey W-CDMA radio network solution to augment its existing 3G system. The three-year contract will see the Finnish vendor deploying its Flexi W-CDMA base station and the Nokia NetAct network and service management system. Nokia will also provide network planning, implementation, commissioning and optimisation services. The equipment will be rolled out to cover nine of Italy’s 20 regions. Wind launched 3G services in late 2004.
