Indosat reports 63% rise in Q3 profits

Indonesia’s second largest telecoms operator, Indosat, has reported a 63% rise in net profits for the third quarter to 30 September 2006, driven by a recovery from its mobile arm Satelindo. Indosat posted net income of IDR378.4 billion (USD41.3 million) for the period under review, up from IDR232.1 billion in Q3 2005, although the performance was below the analyst consensus forecast of IDR401.5 billion. Satelindo ended September with 14.233 million mobile subscribers, having added around 373,000 new users in the quarter helping boost the group’s revenue to IDR3.7 trillion, up 4.7 percent year-on-year.
