Etisalat to introduce per second billing

4 Dec 2006

Anticipating stiff competition from newcomer Du when it launches services in 2007, incumbent operator Etisalat has announced a number of price revisions, which have been approved by the Telecommunication Regulatory Agency (TRA). Most significant will be the introduction of per second billing (PSB), although no date for its implementation has been given. Etisalat currently charges for 30 second blocks. Off-peak rates are to be introduced for international business calls from 1 January 2007, resulting in a 35% discount. Monthly line rental fees for both fixed lines and business direct exchange lines (DEL) will also be revised.
