Cisco Systems has inked a deal to deploy a Wi-Fi mesh network for Singapore Telecommunications (SingTel) covering the North region of the country. As part of the government’s Wireless@SG project, SingTel plans to roll out more than 2,400 hotspots in the region by May 2007. Singapore is looking to extend broadband coverage outside of homes and offices to virtually every part of the country, using Wi-Fi wireless mesh networks. Under the deal, the value of which was not disclosed, Cisco will deliver its Unified Wireless Network including wireless devices and a centralised management system.
