Internet TV launched

29 Nov 2006

Incumbent Uruguayan telco Antel has launched Adinet TV, a new service through which users with a broadband connection of 350kbps or more can watch two TV channels and surf the net, reports BNamericas, quoting online news service Tele-Semana. Broadband is currently not widespread in Uruguay, with TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database indicating around 70,000 ADSL subscribers at the end of June 2006. ADSL is currently only provided by AntelData, a subsidiary of the incumbent, which also announced it intends to increase connection speeds by up to 30%.
