Hotspots getting hotter

28 Nov 2006

A study into Russian Wi-Fi deployments predicts the country will be home to 7,000 wireless LAN hotspots by the end of this year. The bulk of the hotspots – around 6,000 – will be deployed by Golden Telecom, which is constructing a Wi-Fi network to provide wireless internet access across much of Moscow. The network is due to go live in January. The report from J’son&Partners predicts that there will be 13,000 hotspots in service in Russia by 2010.
