BSNL soft-launches triple-play

27 Nov 2006

Indian state-run telco Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) has soft-launched its first triple-play voice, broadband and TV service to 100 customers in Pune. The telco says it will test the services over the next two weeks ahead of a commercial launch before the end of the year. It will initially offer the service free to existing broadband customers in Pune until the end of the year, but has yet to reveal pricing thereafter. BSNL currently has around 30,000 broadband customers, and the government has set the telco a target of providing capacity for five million high speed internet lines by the end of 2007.
