MOD open

24 Nov 2006

Taiwan’s communications regulator has told the country’s dominant telco Chunghwa Telecom to transform its multimedia business into an open platform. The National Communications Commission (NCC) wants Chunghwa to give competitors access to its Multimedia On Demand (MOD) platform which offers high speed internet and IP-based TV services. DigiTimes reports that the NCC wants MOD to be an independent platform which is available to ISPs, channel operators, digital content providers and other fixed line telcos.
