22 Nov 2006

Finnish telco Elisa Corporation has struck a deal with broadcaster Canal Digital to offer the latter’s channels via IPTV as part of a new triple-play package, according to Telecompaper. The Viihdekaista service will launch on 28 November, providing customers with a 24Mbps download ADSL connection, fixed line telephony and a range of IPTV and video-on-demand (VoD) services. Price varies on the number of IPTV channels and services taken, starting at EUR64.90 (USD83.5) per month. At present around 300,000 homes on the Elisa network are capable of receiving the 24Mbps service, but the telco expects this to reach more than a million by summer 2007.
