3 launches HSDPA network

22 Nov 2006

Denmark’s first 3G network has become Denmark’s first 3.5G network, with the upgrade of 3’s W-CDMA infrastructure to HSDPA (high speed download packet access) standard, by Swedish vendor Ericsson. Users will enjoy download speeds averaging 1.5Mbps, with peak speeds of up to 3.6Mbps, increasing to 7.2Mbps next year. 3, a joint venture between Hong Kong’s Hutchison Whampoa and the Swedish Investor Group, will continue to extend network coverage and implement 3.5G services throughout 2007.
