Hutch and Idea granted mobile spectrum in new regions

India’s Department of Telecommunications (DoT) will grant mobile spectrum to mobile operators Hutchison Essar and Idea Cellular, according to local paper Business Line. Hutchison will receive frequencies covering six new circles (North East, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, Orissa, Assam, and Jammu and Kashmir) and Idea for one new region (Mumbai). The allocations are expected to be formalised by the end of the year.
