Russian broadband operator Golden Telecom has applied for a concession which will enable it to roll out wireless broadband networks. The telco has reportedly applied to the State Radio Frequency Commission for spectrum in the 2.5GHz-2.7GHz band. A company spokesperson told Prime Tass: ‘We plan to cover all major cities with populations over 400,000 people and the Moscow Region.’ Golden Telecom has already launched trial WiMAX networks and is also deploying a city-wide Wi-Fi system in Moscow.
