Thailand’s consumer VoIP market fully opened

17 Nov 2006

Thailand’s telecoms regulator the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) has opened up the consumer market for phone-to-phone IP telephony services. All ISP licence holders may start offering the service immediately, whilst other prospective VoIP operators must apply for a concession. The NTC is expected to introduce an official VoIP numbering plan next month, using the prefix ‘06’. Earlier, the regulator permitted VoIP calls from PC-to-PC and from PC-to-phone (fixed and mobile).
