Telmex says no problems with CPP

17 Nov 2006

Telmex has claimed that it has not received complaints regarding the recent introduction of a calling party pays (CPP) billing system for domestic fixed to mobile phone calls, according to local daily El Informador, quoted by BNamericas. ‘Our clients don’t have problems dialling 045 [the national long-distance dialling code],’ Telmex commercial director Abe Attar said. The statement follows news we reported two days ago that according to cellcos Iusacell and Unefón, three other fixed line operators, Avantel, Alestra and Maxcom, had connected domestic long-distance (DLD) calls charged through pre-paid international long-distance (ILD) cards instead of the required 045 dialling code. Meanwhile, one report from local daily La Reforma said that DLD calling had dropped 70% since the start of CPP billing.
