Telecom getting closer

15 Nov 2006

Telecom New Zealand is continuing its slow but steady pursuit of mobile market leader Vodafone. The local subsidiary of UK-based Vodafone reported 11,000 net subscriber additions in the three months to the end of September, down from 27,000 in the same period last year, while Telecom Mobile added 68,000 net new customers, giving it 45.6% of the overall market; it claimed 44.8% at the end of June. Vodafone is winning the revenues battle though, with average revenue per user (ARPU) standing at NZD46.60, ahead of the NZD45.70 posted by Telecom.
