Indonesian mobile network operator PT Telekomunikasi Selular Indonesia (Telkomsel) has awarded Ericsson of Sweden an expanded contract for managed services in the country. Under the deal the vendor will broaden its comprehensive services offering to include managing the operations of the cellco’s multi-vendor W-CDMA network. The deal is an extension to a contract signed earlier this year under which Ericsson is rolling out Telkomsel’s W-CDMA radio and core network including High Speed Packet Access (HSPA) and managed services. The Swedish firm will now also handle the operation, management and maintenance of a third-party radio access network in Bali, Nusa Tenggara, Kalimantan, Sulawesi and Papua.
