13 Nov 2006

UK mobile telecoms firm Vodafone Group is considering the GDP1.5 billion sale of its 25% stake in Swiss cellco Swisscom Mobile, writes UK Sunday broadsheet The Observer, without citing sources. The paper said a deal is expected before the end of this year, with Swisscom, Swisscom Mobile’s majority owner, seen as the most likely buyer. According to The Observer, the planned disposal is part of a strategy of selling assets where Vodafone has no hope of securing majority control.
